Danish metalcore act Gradience has released a new single and music video titled “Deathwish.” The track is now available to stream below and across digital platforms.

Guitarist and vocalist Jakob Lærke Harris explained that the song pays tribute to the MySpace-era sound of bands like Killswitch Engage, Job For A Cowboy, and The Black Dahlia Murder, while incorporating the group’s signature mix of rap and melody. According to Harris, the band wanted forward momentum and circle-pit energy throughout the track.

Gradience formed in 2022 after Harris and vocalist Gavin Mistry connected at a Copenhagen show by deathcore act Cabal. The two come from different musical backgrounds, with Harris rooted in heavy music and Mistry active in hip-hop projects. Together, they’ve described their sound as “blackened rap metal,” though Harris noted the label is mainly a way to grab attention.

Furthermore, Harris emphasized that rap functions as just another tool alongside screams and melody when shaping each song. He added that emotional connection drives the band’s writing process.

More news from Gradience is expected in the coming weeks.
