Australian technical death metal act Psycroptic have dropped the second single “No Blade of Grass” from their upcoming album. “The Pulse of Annihilation” will be released July 17th through Metal Blade Records.
Guitarist Joe Haley describes the track as mixing classic Psycroptic riffage with looser, sludgier passages drawn from the classic death metal era. He also points to a choral and orchestral chorus as the element that ties it together. Bassist Todd Stern calls it an unbelievably catchy tune, highlighting the main verse as a personal favorite. Vocalist Jason Peppiatt notes that the song marks the first Psycroptic track written by fellow vocalist Jason Keyser (Origin), who joined the band for the previous full-length, “Divine Council.”
“The Pulse of Annihilation” features cover art by Belial Necroarts and lands on digipak CD, digital, and multiple vinyl variants. Pre-orders are available here.
Psycroptic also confirm a short Australian run in August with Rivers of Nihil, Growth, and Slaughtercult, followed by four Japan dates alongside Rivers of Nihil and The Zenith Passage.
