Author Benedetta Baldin - 11.5.2026
At the Olympic Stadium (OAKA) in Athens on Saturday night, May 9, Metallica began the 2026 leg of the “M72” global tour, as per Blabbermouth. Gojira and Knocked Loose provided support during the performance. The famous piece “Zorba’s Dance” by renowned Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis was performed by bassist Robert Trujillo and guitarist Kirk Hammett of Metallica during the performance. Additionally, they performed the Greek song “You Don’t Fit Anywhere” (“Den Horas Pouthena“) by the renowned Greek rock group Tripes. “Zorba’s Dance,” which is still one of the most well-known Greek songs in the world and is closely connected to Theodorakis’s legacy, is internationally linked to the 1964 film “Zorba The Greek.”
