Metallica have released professionally filmed footage of their performance of “For Whom the Bell Tolls” from the sixth show of their “Life Burns Faster” residency at Sphere in Las Vegas. The performance was recorded on October 17, 2026, during the band’s third weekend at the immersive venue.
The latest official clip gives fans another opportunity to experience the residency’s large-scale production from outside the venue. “For Whom the Bell Tolls” originally appeared on the band’s 1984 album “Ride the Lightning” and remains one of the group’s best-known concert staples.
The new video follows a growing series of professionally shot performances from the Las Vegas engagement. Earlier releases have included “The Call of Ktulu” and “…And Justice for All” from opening night on October 1, as well as “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)”, “Fade to Black” and “Battery” from subsequent concerts.
The footage highlights the venue’s enormous wraparound screen and immersive staging, which have become defining features of the residency. Metallica have been using the technology to present songs from across their catalog in a new visual setting.
The “Life Burns Faster” run comprises 24 shows across 12 “No Repeat Weekend” engagements. As on the band’s ongoing “M72” world tour, the setlists for each Thursday and Saturday pairing are designed not to repeat any songs, giving audiences a different performance on each night.
The residency began on October 1 and is scheduled to conclude on March 13, 2027. Additional Las Vegas performances are scheduled for November 5 and 7, followed by dates in January, February and March.
Sphere’s immersive audiovisual technology has previously been used for residencies by acts including U2, Phish, Dead & Company and Eagles. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has said that seeing the venue’s opening shows inspired the group to explore what it could do with its own music.
After the Las Vegas run, Metallica are scheduled to resume their “M72” world tour with North American stadium concerts beginning in May 2027.
