Metallica‘s latest concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas attracted two particularly recognizable audience members: pop superstar Céline Dion and actor and Tenacious D musician Jack Black.
The story behind the announcement
Dion, who had already been seen enthusiastically playing air bass at an earlier Metallica Sphere performance, was back in the audience for another show. This time, Black was also in attendance, adding to the unusual crossover between the worlds of pop, comedy and heavy metal.
The pair’s appearance drew attention online as footage of the audience circulated. Dion’s animated response to the music offered another reminder that Metallica‘s audience extends well beyond traditional metal fans.
Black is no stranger to heavy music through his work with Tenacious D, while Dion’s visible enthusiasm has become a memorable feature of the band’s Las Vegas run.
The appearances were as audience members, not announced guest performances with Metallica. The band’s Sphere concerts continue to combine its catalog with the venue’s immersive audiovisual presentation.
