A former business partner has filed a lawsuit against Maynard James Keenan about his foray into the gin industry, as per theprp. Keenan of Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer has a number of commercial endeavours in Arizona, including as a martial arts school, a vineyard and winery, and other physical endeavours. This lawsuit, which was filed on June 6th, 2026, focuses on Keenan’s gin business enterprise. Keenan was openly considering entering that market back in 2024, and he eventually did so with a number of partners through Potions, LLC and Thirteen Moons Gin. This new lawsuit, filed by Dave Sanclemente, names Keenan, Potions, LLC, and two of the company’s co-managers, Tim White and Calvin Arnold.
Sanclemente claims that in November 2025, the three individuals stated above “conspired in bad faith” to deprive him of his different business responsibilities at Potions, LLC. According to his complaint, the alleged dismissal happened in reprisal for something “wholly unrelated” to Potions’ commercial activities. This mess started
a series of formal complaints about Defendant Keenan related to workplace issues at his other businesses. The complaints alleged conduct by Keenan that Plaintiff believed to be illegal.
Sanclemente claims that as a result of his accusations, the corporation effectively fired him a month later, stripped him of his duties, nullified his contract, and reduced or eliminated many aspects of his position. Consequently, Sanclemente has sued for breach of fiduciary duty, breach of the implicit obligation of good faith and fair dealing, and breach of contract.
