Maynard James Keenan updates fans on health and upcoming tour schedule following operation

Author Benedetta Baldin - 27.8.2026

Maynard James Keenan has had to undergo surgery once more, as per theprp. The mysterious musician/entrepreneur disclosed that he sustained an inexplicable hip ailment on July 3rd during A Perfect Circle‘s European/UK tour in a post released on August 26. He had to use a cane and endure chronic agony to complete that tour due to that injury. It turns out that Keenan needed another hip replacement after earning a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2024. In 2015, the 62-year-old had hip replacement surgery. As previously mentioned, Keenan does have a lengthy tour schedule planned for the autumn, which includes performances with all three of his bands. The singer posted this news on his social media account.

Don’t be Lazy. Read the Whole Post. July 3rd, woke up Luxembourg on tour w @aperfectcircle. When I went to do my morning workout & hike, my left hip said No. Out of nowhere it just decided to not work. Had to finish the rest of the tour in pain w a cane. Followed by the frantic phone calls & emails to get to the bottom of it. Labrum Tear? Hip replacement? Sprain? I needed answers fast because I have s#!t to do. Many tours. Starting in Sep & all the way to Xmas, I’ll be performing roughly 27 shows in 18 different countries with 3 different bands. Cancelling isn’t an option. People have purchased tickets and booked travel & lodging, most of which is probably nonrefundable. Hats off to the medical team in LA. When taking recovery into consideration, my cut off for a hip replacement would be Sept 1st. These wizards all aligned their wands & got me in on Aug 26th (Today. Right now). Phew. #doitfordolly #theshowmustgoon ewww. @queenbvinylcafe@queenbsushi @toolmusic @puscifer #bananas Thank you, @licoricelust for sticking with me & enduring this delicious hospital food.
