John Lydon is adamant that he will never make amends with his former Sex Pistols comrades, as per UCR. Lydon has never shied away from making scathing remarks about his former band. He has criticised the other members of the group throughout the years for getting back together without him and for endorsing the Danny Boyle-directed miniseries “Pistol”. However, Lydon claimed in a recent interview with Rolling Stone that his friendship with the other Sex Pistols was irreversibly terminated due to a different problem.
I’ll never forgive them for the way that they piled that court case on me while my wife was dying of Alzheimer’s, it was a most unfortunate act on their part, and then using Disney to strip-mine me.
The “Pistol” series was the subject of Lydon’s Disney comment. He filed a lawsuit to prevent the Sex Pistols music from being used on the show, but he was unsuccessful and had to pay hefty fines. The singer’s wife, Nora Foster, was battling Alzheimer’s at the time of the lawsuit in 2021. At age 80, she passed away in 2023.
If I didn’t raise, say, $10 million after the first week, the case couldn’t go on, that’s money I could have spent taking care of my lovely Nora… They knew she was ill.
Lydon claims that after Nora passed away, none of his old bandmates got in touch with him. The likelihood of a reunion with the Sex Pistols is “in the minus infinities,” he claimed.
The dirt that they unloaded on me in a time where I was in real serious grief … No, I cannot forget about that.
Lydon said that he has moved away from the Sex Pistols despite his harsh remarks.
I don’t have spite in me, if they’d gone about this another way and were open and friendly with me, who knows what gifts that may have brought, but they decided skullduggery was the order of the day.
