“The plan is to release three new albums with 33 songs in total within the next year” – interview with Lord of the Lost’s Chris Harms

German metal giants Lord of the Lost are set to release their next album titled “OPVS NOIR Vol. 1” on August 8 through Napalm Records. The upcoming studio album is the first part of the OPVS NOIR trilogy, where the chart-topping band returns to heavier sounds – without abandoning their gothic harmonies or orchestral power. The trilogy concludes the “Blood & Glitter” era in the band’s career, opening a door into the heart of darkness. Chris Harms says the following about the trilogy:

“We have 33 tracks to choose from, of which “My Sanctuary” is a kind of gateway song that opens the door to the entire world of OPVS NOIR.”

The upcoming album simultaneously defines what Lord of the Lost is in 2025. Produced by Chris Harms, the album was recorded at Chameleon Studios in Hamburg, and while everything is new, it still sounds familiar. Chris Harms reflects on the upcoming album:

“Darkness, melancholy, loneliness are all words that often have negative connotations and which we might associate with danger, sadness, and loss. But darkness can also be security, melancholy can be the warm and sentimental feeling of our memories. Perhaps loneliness also becomes silence, peace, and a travel guide through the dark sides of our inner world, which so often move precisely between what we emotionally classify as positive or negative. And all this is just the beginning of this three-part journey.”

Chaoszine sat down with Harms for a video interview and discussed topics including the band’s decision to return to their musical roots on the upcoming album trilogy and what fans can expect from Lord of the Lost’s collaboration with Käärijä, which will be released on the “OPVS NOIR Vol. 2” album.
