Chris Harms, known for his musical versatility and as frontman for German number one-charting band Lord Of The Lost, continues his solo art with the release of “APORIA”, out on January 22, 2027, via Napalm Records. The date also marks his birthday, already giving a hint at the very personal nature of the new full-length.
With his solo debut, “1980”, released in February 2025 and entering the Top 10 of the official German album charts, the Hamburg-based musician, producer, and songwriter saw a long-cherished dream of producing an album entirely with 80’s gear finally come to life. “APORIA” builds on that foundation, exploring more modern electronics, eclectic soundscapes, and synth-driven realms beyond his main band’s sound. Alongside the announcement, Harms unveils “Find What You Love And Let It Kill You,” a track with a dark and evocative atmosphere that explores how true passion can come at a price, a blazing fire that might ultimately consume you. The song is now available on all streaming services.

“APORIA” is the first record Harms produced in his new rooms at Boogie Park Studios in Hamburg, following his move from Chameleon Studios after several years there in spring 2026. It serves as a melting pot of feelings and emotions, reflected in both its title and album artwork. The album title originates from the Ancient Greek word “ἀπορία,” which describes dealing with an unresolvable problem. In philosophy and rhetoric, it refers to a moment when reasoning seems to hit an impassable barrier; a kind of deliberate, thought-provoking uncertainty. The artwork, created by VDPictures, features a Penrose Triangle, an optical illusion that defies conventional geometry. The title “APORIA” mirrors this sense of paradox and mystery, hinting at an album that embraces ambiguity and challenges listeners to explore the boundaries of perception, much like the impossible object on its cover.
With “APORIA”, Chris Harms offers the deepest insight, fully taking the risk of making himself vulnerable in the process. Combined with his distinctive musical approach and signature craftsmanship, this is what transforms the record into a sonic diary and makes it one of the most significant works in his artistic discography.

For Harms personally, “APORIA” also represents an opportunity to look back and to honestly confront his inner self, and connect with what lies within the here and now. The album delves into the questions that would be far easier and far more comfortable to push aside. But that is not what Chris Harms does on “APORIA”. Instead, he faces past mistakes and their consequences and the people that might have gotten hurt. All this is resulting in a deeply personal and sincere record that requires little explanation. When the music is given the space it deserves, it speaks for itself. Sonically, “APORIA” follows Harms’ credo of not following at all but simply doing whatever feels right. Rather than continuing the 80s-inspired sound that defined his debut, the second album takes a much darker, less extroverted approach. Or, perhaps, one that goes deeper precisely for that reason. The opening track “U† I†” (You die, I die) sets the tone with a pulsing industrial sound underscoring somber lyrics. The straightforward “Skipped A Beat” features Hocico/Rabia Sorda vocalist Erk Aicrag, the first of three guest appearances on APORIA. The second comes from US synth-rock band Julien-K (successor to the legendary band Orgy) on “You Are Not What You See,” followed by Hamburg fellow artist SWISS (SWISS + DIE ANDERN) on “Hallo Depression,” the record’s only track performed in German. “On A Dreamless Night” conjures up inner demons, while the closing “Dear Time” reads like an honest letter and a personal statement, reflecting on past mistakes and pleading for a chance to somehow change things retrospectively.
