System Of A Down is set to perform 13 shows in 2025, their most active year since 2017. The schedule includes six shows across New Jersey, Illinois, and Ontario, plus a South American tour.
In a recent interview with Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, bassist Shavo Odadjian explained that the increased activity is about “testing the waters.” He noted that band relationships have improved significantly, though there’s no grand plan for extensive touring.
“We haven’t played a lot together for a while. We’ve been doing one or two shows a year since 2017,” Odadjian explained. “The relationships weren’t as great as they are now. Everyone’s happy now, and we decided to test the waters and play some shows. There’s no strategy to it.“
He added that their successful performance at Sick New World last year helped spark the additional dates: “Serj had a great time… We had such an amazing, fun show and everyone left the stage hugging. He called back saying, ‘Dude, I loved it. Let’s do more of these.’“
