California-based Red Hot Chili Peppers teased on January 28th a short video on Instagram with what seems to be the intro to a new song. The band’s last release was “The Getaway” (2016).
The next album is much antecipated by fans, as it marks the return of guitarist John Frusciante to the quartet. His last contribution was on 2006’s “Stadium Arcadium”.
Chad Smith revealed to Rolling Stone last October that their new album was almost done. The drummer also talked about Frusciante’s return to the band: “Look, John hasn’t been in our group in 10 years. That’s a long time. So of course it’s going to sound different, but it’s gonna sound like the four of us, because we do have this special chemistry together. It sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it’s different and new, and to me that’s great.”
The band plans to release their new effort prior to the Global Stadium Tour, which starts with a sold out gig on June 4th in Seville, Spain.
