More than 180,000 people have had to be evacuated as a result of the fires, which have been burning throughout Los Angeles since January 7. 27 individuals have already lost their lives. Over 12,300 buildings have been demolished, and the damage is presently estimated to be between $250 and 275 billion. Nearly 40,000 acres of remaining wildfires have been brought under control by firefighters thanks to a slowdown in the winds that were fueling the fires, but hazardous conditions are predicted to resume the next week.
