Global rock legends Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool have introduced “Green Day TV”, a 24-hour stream that is now only accessible on YouTube, as per Blabbermouth. Green Day TV will provide viewers with 24-hour immersive programming honouring the band’s more than 30-year history while presenting unique, never-before-seen content. A constant stream of Green Day’s music videos, live performances, and archival footage from nearly thirty years of unseen footage from recording studios, music video production, tours, backstage stuff, and more will be featured on the page. Fans will get a close-up look at the band’s legendary past through the interactive webcast, which will also offer them access to trivia, freebies, surprise drops, and more.
Green Day TV will launch a weekly variety show called “Transmission Unknown” that will highlight up-and-coming musicians in addition to its extensive music programming. The show, which will be hosted by drummer Tré Cool of Green Day, will combine comedy, music, and collaborations created just for the stream with live performances from carefully chosen up-and-coming musical acts, interviews, and original sketches. Green Day TV expands the band’s direct-to-fan offerings by joining SiriusXM’s Green Day‘s Idiot Nation, the band’s carefully curated punk rock channel that features their favourite music, rare Green Day recordings, and stories from throughout their career. This gives fans a brand-new visual destination for music discovery and upcoming announcements regarding merchandise, tours, and music releases.
The announcement comes right before Green Day’s eagerly awaited “Nimrods” movie opens in theatres on August 14. “Nimrods” is a coming-of-age tale about three friends (Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust) who travel to Los Angeles under the incorrect impression that their band is playing for Green Day on New Year’s Eve. It was developed by writer/director Lee Kirk alongside Green Day and produced by Tim Perell. Based on the travels of Green Day and their years spent living in a tour van, their road trip is a boisterous and naughty journey across the nation full of adventures.
