On July 23, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson appeared on stage with The Coverups at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California, as per theprp. Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong leads The Coverups, a cover band primarily made up of Green Day members. Cheap Trick, The Clash, Ramones, Nirvana, Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe, and other artists’ songs were performed by that group. The set was a part of a performance by Fandom and Z2 at San Diego Comic-Con. Dickinson appeared on stage to perform the song (which he recorded on his first solo album) “All The Young Dudes” by Mott The Hoople. Below is fan-shot video of their performance from that night.
Lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backup vocalist Mike Dirnt founded the American rock group Green Day in Rodeo, California, in 1987. Drummer Tré Cool joined the group in 1990. Reprise Records’ 1994 release of “Dookie”, their major-label debut, was a huge hit and eventually sold over 20 million copies in the US. Punk rock has been credited with regaining popularity thanks to Green Day. The band was known as Sweet Children before to adopting its current name in 1989. They were a part of the Berkeley, California, club 924 Gilman Street, which gave rise to the Bay Area punk scene in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Lookout, an indie record company, released the band’s early albums! records, such as “39/Smooth” (1990), their debut album. Before recording the band’s second studio album, “Kerplunk” (1991), Cool took John Kiffmeyer’s position in 1990, and the group has remained a power trio for the majority of its existence. Despite not being as successful as “Dookie”, the albums “Insomniac” (1995), “Nimrod” (1997), and “Warning” (2000) were nevertheless successful; “Insomniac” and Nimrod” “gained double platinum status, while “Warning” achieved gold. “American Idiot” (2004), Green Day’s seventh album, was a rock opera that sold six million copies in the US and gained appeal among younger people. 2009 saw the release of their subsequent album, “21st Century Breakdown”.
