It’s not a surprise that, due to Covid-19, musicians were forced to cancel or re-schedule most of the planned tours – originally the ‘Hella Mega’ tour, featuring Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy, was supposed to happen in summer 2020. But, luckily, time has passed and the bands were able to kick-off the long-awaited tour on July 24, 2021, at Dallas’ Globe Life Field. The singer & frontman Billie Joe Armstrong started the set with heart-warming words:
” Take a look around you. This is human contact. We cannot be locked up anymore. We need to be together. “Billie Joe Armstrong
Green Day didn’t leave their most classic tracks to the last, the band started the concert with their hits “American Idiot” and “Holiday”, followed by tracks “Longview”, “Welcome to Paradise” and “When I Come Around”, as well as a cover of Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Nite”.
In their set Weezer delivered such known tracks like “Hash Pipe”, “Beverly Hills”, “Island in the Sun”, “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly”. The band also played the cover of Toto’s “Africa”, which was a big hit for Weezer in 2018.
