Deathcore legends Despised Icon is back with a new album

Author Daniel Escobar - 26.7.2025

Considered by many as the fathers of deathcore, Despised Icon posted a teaser picture on their social media with just one word; “TOMORROW”, getting all the attention all over the scene.

The day has arrived. We’re getting a new full-length album, more specifically their sixth one after more than six years since “Purgatory”. “Shadow Work” , as the band states:

Lyrically, “Shadow Work” explores themes of resilience and inner healing, drawing inspiration from the psychological process of confronting and integrating one’s darker aspects. It’s a deeply introspective record that reflects both personal growth and the turbulence of the world around us.

Founded in Montreal back in 2002, the canadians did stablished a path for the upcoming bands from the genre, being one of the pioneer bands that took that beatdown-ish sound and took it to a more technical and personal way with their “Consumed by your poison”, released on that same year.
