The 2001 smash song “Chop Suey!” by System of A Down has achieved yet another noteworthy milestone, as per theprp. The Armenian-American metal band’s iconic nu metal song from the early 2000s has just surpassed two billion plays on Spotify alone. With that song, the trio joined the billions club on Spotify for the first time in April 2023. “Chop Suey!” was first released in August 2001 as the lead single from the band’s 6x platinum-certified sophomore album “Toxicity.” The song was last certified 5x platinum by the RIAA in July 2022, and considering its ongoing popularity, more certifications are likely to come.
Even though Spotify’s plays of the song account for a sizable portion of its digital market share, the song’s incredible reach is further demonstrated by the 1.5 billion views the official YouTube music video upload has received and the numerous other platforms where it can be streamed.
