Von Hertzen Brothers announce special edition releases celebrating the band’s 25th anniversary

Author Benedetta Baldin - 9.2.2026

Von Hertzen Brothers enter 2026 with a landmark year ahead, marking 25 years since their debut album, ‘Experience’ was released. To celebrate the milestone, the band will roll out a full year of activity spanning live performances, long-requested archival releases and the first steps toward their next studio album.

In Finland, the anniversary celebrations include a special acoustic performance at the Finnish National Theatre on 10 April, a show that sold out immediately. Internationally, the band return to UK stages with appearances at Call of the Wild Festival, where they headline the Sunday night on 31 May, and Steelhouse Festival on 25 July, with further touring news expected as the year unfolds.

A central part of the anniversary programme is a series of limited-edition physical reissues from the Von Hertzen Brothers catalogue. Many of these titles have been unavailable for years and are among the band’s most frequently requested releases.

The first re-release is a ‘platinum edition’ of their EMMA Award–winning second album ‘Approach’. Remastered by Henkka Niemistö, the double vinyl LP features a platinum-foiled gatefold sleeve and platinum-coloured vinyl, alongside bonus live recordings: ‘Let Thy Will Be Done’ and ‘River’ (Live at Tavastia 2008), and ‘Ebb Tide Ride’ (Debatably Live 2006).

In addition, the band’s third album ‘Love Remains The Same’ receives a new remix by Jussi Jaakonaho, and will be issued as a limited ‘gold edition’ double LP with gold-foiled gatefold packaging and gold vinyl. The album was their first domestic number 1 and was recently included in the Top 25 Prog albums of the 2000’s by Loudwire (USA).  The new release includes three additional live tracks recorded at Tavastia in 2008: ‘Bring Out The Sun (So Alive)’, ‘Freedom Fighter’ and ‘Somewhere in the Middle’.

Mikko says, “We have dreamt of having our first #1 album remixed for years, but there was never really an actual possibility for that. We thought we had lost the recordings due to label changes, studio moves and just simply our lack of organisation. Last year, while going through our archives, we found a hard drive from almost twenty years ago. After finding the right cable to hook it up we were astounded to find the original sessions of Love Remains the Same on it. We immediately thought about remixing the whole shalabang for this 25th anniversary. Our friend Jussi (who has mixed our songs many times before) was up for the task. We always felt it needed more punch and drive and he was able to bring that into the music. Furthermore, the mastering tools are now so different from the time these albums were released that we also wanted to remaster our “breakthrough” album Approach. To our ears, both of these versions sound better, wider and more “up-to-date” than the originals.”

CD versions of both albums with upgraded gatefold packaging will also be available, alongside merch bundles and signed editions exclusive to the band’s website.

Both albums are available for pre-order from 9 February 2026 and will be released on 17 April 2026, with further reissues planned throughout the anniversary year.

Later in 2026, the band will turn their attention toward writing and recording their tenth studio album, opening the next chapter in their continually evolving career.
