The release of Deep Purple’s new album, “SPLAT!”, is approaching – the final single “Guilt Trippin'” is out now

Deep Purple, who recently played two shows in Finland, will release their new album *SPLAT!* very soon—on Friday, July 3. Today, the band is offering a final preview from the album: “Guilt Trippin’.”

“Guilt Trippin’” is perhaps one of the album’s most unpredictable tracks. The song also features one of singer Ian Gillan’s most memorable vocal performances on this album.

Ian Gillan says of the song’s recording: “The song starts, and I’m in the studio. I don’t have any lyrics for it yet. So I just start screaming. It was pure joy to scream. When I was 40, I promised myself I’d stop screaming by the time I turned 60. Now I look back and think, ‘What ever came of that?’ So let’s give it a try.”

“Guilt Trippin’” tells the story of an all-powerful god and Charles Darwin sitting down over a beer to reflect on how things didn’t quite go as originally planned. The music video, meanwhile, takes viewers on a journey into the wondrous world of the *SPLAT!* album. Watch the video below.

The album was produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin (KISS, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper). Together, they’ve created an album that draws on the sound, attitude, and approach that make Deep Purple, well, Deep Purple.
