Rock legends Deep Purple hit Avicii Arena in Stockholm on October 26 with their SPLAT! World Tour 2026, delivering a set that brought together decades of rock history and new material. They opened with “Highway Star,” a classic that hits as hard as always, no matter what.
At 81, Ian Gillan may not have the same voice he had in his younger years, but seeing him up there still rocking out is pretty amazing. Deep Purple have helped shape the sound of rock with their powerful riffs, driving rhythms and iconic Hammond organ, and with Ian Paice on drums, Roger Glover on bass, Don Airey on keyboards and Simon McBride on guitar, the band continues to deliver the sound that made them so influential. Songs like “Perfect Strangers” and “Lazy” brought a dose of nostalgia, while the new material from SPLAT! offered a fresh chapter in the band’s story. Their performance in Stockholm showed that the rock spirit keeps going strong.
