Video footage available of Ritchie Blackmore performing with Deep Purple

For the first time in almost thirty years, Ritchie Blackmore performed with Deep Purple on stage during the band’s main event on Wednesday, August 12, at the Northwell at Jones Beach Theatre in Wantagh, New York, as per Blabbermouth. The band’s iconic song “Smoke On The Water” was performed by the 81-year-old guitarist, who last performed with Deep Purple in 1993. This performance concluded Deep Purple’s normal set at the Wantagh gig. Ian Gillan, the singer of Deep Purple, told the audience this following the “Smoke On The Water” performance.

I’ve gotta say something. A couple of days ago, I got a message. A couple of days ago, I got a message from a local lad. I got a letter from this man saying, ‘I only live around the corner. Do you mind if I come and jam with you?’ And I tell you, it was an absolute pleasure to have back on stage the founder member, the great legend, the immortal Ritchie Blackmore. Thanks, Ritchie.
