Samy Elbanna on future Children of Bodom shows: “Everything that’s public is what I know”

Lost Society frontman Samy Elbanna spoke in a Chaoszine video interview about performing Children of Bodom songs. He said the response to the initial celebratory concerts made the musicians aware of a new generation of fans who had never had the chance to see the band.

Discussing the already announced 2027 festival appearances, Elbanna recalled that the original plan had been to bring the music back for just one or two nights:

“Well, it has come up, but I mean, it’s fully to be expected. And I think it’s going to be a beautiful moment, every possibility we have to bring those songs to the stages. Because obviously, when we set out to do the two celebratory shows in the beginning of the year, we were like, we’ll bring these songs for one night or two nights back to life. And seeing the response, and not just me, but for the whole band obviously, seeing the response and realizing and seeing firsthand that there’s a whole new generation of people who didn’t have the opportunity to see the band earlier. And obviously for so many people who love the band, who love the songs and actively want to see what’s going on, it’s a beautiful opportunity that we’ll have to do that one more time.”

Asked about longer-term plans, Elbanna stressed that he only knows what has already been made public and that decisions about future activity rest with the other musicians.

“Everything that’s public is what I know, you know, in that sense. Because, as I said earlier, whatever the guys feel they want to do, that’s what we’re going to do. And it’s celebrating the music, and the music that was brought to us by someone who, you know, it was his life’s work to bring those songs to life. So now we’re just honoring that.”

The music of Children of Bodom is set to return to Finnish festival stages in 2027, including previously announced shows. His remarks should not be taken as confirmation of further performances.
