Lost Society frontman Samy Elbanna discussed performing Children of Bodom material and preserving the band’s legacy in a new Chaoszine video interview.
Asked whether Children of Bodom might record new music with him, Elbanna steered the discussion away from a possible new album and toward the purpose of the tribute performances: celebrating Alexi Laiho’s existing songs.
“I don’t think that’s the conversation, you know. It’s because we’re celebrating music. That’s what it is. And, you know, Alexi, his music is so timeless. And I feel like the national broadcasting show with the symphony orchestra also showed it in another way. When you hear those melodies, you hear those songs, they’re not following a particular trend. They weren’t made influenced by a particular thing. They’re something that, no matter what’s happening in rock or metal, they always sound relevant. And I feel like there’s so much music that works so well live, and I think that’s the whole idea.”
Elbanna pointed to the Finnish Broadcasting Company’s orchestral metal programme as another example of how well Laiho’s melodies translate beyond their original arrangements. His answer did not confirm any plans to record new Children of Bodom material.
The band’s legacy is also set to be celebrated onstage in 2027, following previously announced performances.
