Author Benedetta Baldin - 13.9.2026

Last night, September 12, in San Antonio, Texas, My Chemical Romance started to wrap up their 2026 U.S. tour, but the multi-platinum group still had some surprises planned, as per theprp. They included a rendition of their song “Mama” from “The Black Parade,” which featured a special appearance by Danish heavy metal icon King Diamond. The latter officially knighted the band by participating in various kingly responsibilities. Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance, also suggested that the group might be working on their first studio album since 2010. Below is fan-shot video of Way discussing it, as well as some footage of Diamond performing with the band.

The American rock group My Chemical Romance is based in New Jersey. Lead singer Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way make up the band’s current roster. Despite the band’s rejection of the former designation, they are regarded as one of the most important rock groups of the 2000s and a key act in the pop-punk and emo genres. Gerard, Mikey, Toro, and drummer Matt Pelissier (later joined by Iero) formed the band in September 2001. They signed with Eyeball Records and released their debut album, “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love”, in 2002. “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”, their major-label debut, was released in 2004 after they signed with Reprise Records the following year.
