Ladies, gentlemen and whatever is your preferred gender, this will be the first of three Halloween playlist made by Chaoszine. We start with American bands that have a lot of songs for creating a playlist like this. Then we’ll have the Finnish, for the origin of the magazine, and the European. Don’t worry, all songs chosen are in the English language, and yes, could be a playlist that even your granny can listen to it.
The songs I’ve chosen for this playlist is mostly for the title than the lyrics. Maybe we can reflect on serious topics while also we having fun. So I hope you enjoy this playlist I’ve created and I apologize if a tear may fall down.
Godsmack – Vampires
I made this playlist as I like the studio album: an instrumental intro/song with strong vibes that makes you want to jump and play guitar, bass or drums and doing headbanging until the head begins to hurt. “Vampires” by Godsmack is very heavy song and worthly to starts this playlist.
Type O Negative – Halloween in Heaven
Some Type O Negative‘s songs have dark humour vibes, and in its style the late Peter Steele write thinking a Halloween party in Heaven where are the stars of rock as Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham, John Entwistle, Bon Scott and other musician. Beside he images Jesus who does trick or treat while the devil stole a Yule tree.

The Bravery – Jack O’ Lantern Man
The Bravery was a band from New York who played and indie rock/post punk revival genre, but its success only lasted three years with three albums: “The Bravery”, “The Sun and the Moon”, and “Stir the Blood” which contains this song. I don’t know if the lyric is inspired by a bad experience for the frontman or another person, but sure must be in this playlist.

Deftones – Phantom Bride
Even if the lyric of the song has nothing to do with Halloween except from the title, “Phantom Bride” is here. It’s a metaphor about how we remain stuck in our void focusing on abstract things like a phantom bride. The lyrics of Deftones‘ songs are very cryptic sometimes and could have many meanings like drug addiction or remain in the comfort zone.

Murderdolls – She was a Teenage Zombie
This song perfectly suits for Halloween, as the entire discography of this band. The song is about a date with the main character and a zombie girl pulled out from her grave. And he took her to the movies, to park, and at the and they danced on the grave of hers after they fell in love. But especially she is “drop dead gorgeus that’s for sure”.
My Chemical Romance – Dead!
Other song chosen especially for the title, but it wonders if we’re happy with our lives if we have to die soon. Death is treated almost like it’s a game when it’s Halloween, but our lives are always serious. The question is: did we get what we believe to deserve? If not, maybe a simple Halloween party could be the answer.
Fiona Apple – Werewolf
After all these rock songs, a quiet moment with the piano played by the pianist Fiona Apple. The song “Werewolf” is surely a song about a relantionship that ended badly. The werewolf it’s nothing but a predator who is searching for the next prey. “But we could still support each other/ All we gotta do is avoid each other/ Nothing wrong when a song ends in the minor key”. There’s no other words.
Good Charlotte – Ghost of You
It’s time to rock again with Good Charlotte and its “Ghost of You”. it’s a song about the painful of a broken relantionship, or when we lost our partner forever. When we’re at home but the presence we used to see there’s not anymore, and so we start to search a trace of the person that we miss.
Staind – Devil
Maybe the only song of “Christian vibes” in this playlist, but the title is an assist from the best midfielder of all times. “Devil” explores our feelings when we feel that everything goes wrong in life and every kind of relantionship. And so you repeat to yourself “I swear I’m not the devil”, so why am I still suffering?
The Pretty Reckless – Witches Burn
Could a song of social criticism ever be missing? “Witches Burn” is a song where the main character compares herself to a witch. And a Halloween with no witches is not Halloween. The song is about “Welcome back to the days of old/ Where the men are men and the women are sold”. So she has to conquer her freedom and for this she burns.

Rob Zombie – Black Rat Coffin
“Black Rat Coffin” is the the umpteenth grotesque song by Rob Zombie. He describes a collapsed world with dying frogs, ants army, robots, and rats. The rats that will eat the humanity once in the coffin. As the Murderdolls‘ song, this other one perfectly suits for a party like Halloween.

Pantera – Cemetery Gates
And here we are at the last song of this playlist, “Cemetery Gates” by Pantera. This song is one of the most emotional works created by the band from Texas. It speaks about how is hard the loss of a loved person to us. A song that the singer Phil Anselmo have written when he lost many friends because of suicide.
