Kerry King names his five favorite guitarists – one of them is criminally underrated according to the Slayer guitarist

Slayer guitarist Kerry King was asked to name his five all-time favorite guitarists during an interview on the Lipps Service With Scott Lipps podcast.

“I can’t rank them in order, but I can throw out five names. Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore’s Night), Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), and Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen) without any question. Perhaps my all-time favorite is Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest), and I think he’s also the most underrated because if you look at what kind of solos he did and how he played them, he kind of innovated many things,” King states.

“And who’s the fifth? I’ll choose a heavy hitter who’s also a good friend of mine and say Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society, Pantera).”
