Drummer Kai Hahto, known for his work with Nightwish, Wintersun and Auri, has spoken about the importance of music in his personal life and the experience of performing alongside his son Jonathan.
During a Chaoszine video interview, Hahto explained that he hopes his children find pursuits that truly matter to them. One of his sons has followed his interest in drumming, while another is passionate about martial arts.
“Music has been the saviour for those dark days when everything is not alright,” Hahto said, adding that music has helped him when life has been particularly difficult.
He described sharing the stage with Jonathan as a valuable experience, while stressing that supporting each child’s individual interests matters just as much.
Hahto has been marking 35 years of music with special shows revisiting songs and musicians from different stages of his career.
