Megadeth guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari made a special appearance on Finnish television on Saturday, October 31, performing the band’s classic “Symphony Of Destruction” during a Halloween-themed episode of Yle’s popular music program Elämäni Biisi (Song Of My Life).

The episode, titled Metalloween, was broadcast live from Tampere, Finland, and celebrated the country’s heavy metal scene. Mäntysaari joined the show’s house band and guest vocalists onstage for a performance of the Megadeth anthem, which served as the evening’s closing number.

The performance is available to watch through Yle Areena, along with the complete episode.

Finnish metal musicians take over Elämäni Biisi

Hosted by Katja Ståhl, Elämäni Biisi brings together well-known Finnish personalities who each secretly select a song with personal significance. The show’s musicians and featured singers perform the selections while the guests attempt to identify who chose each track.

For the Halloween special, the program assembled a guest panel representing different corners of Finland’s rock and metal community.

Alongside Mäntysaari, the episode featured Joa Korhonen of Sara, Jenna Kosunen of Stoned Statues, former Turisas member and accordionist Netta Skog, and photographer and music video director Ville Juurikkala.

The show’s guest vocalists included former Battle Beast singer Noora Louhimo, who joined the other performers for the evening’s musical selections.

The episode concluded with the ensemble performing “Symphony Of Destruction”, with Mäntysaari stepping away from the guest panel to play guitar alongside the musicians.

Originally released on Megadeth’s 1992 album “Countdown To Extinction”, the song remains one of the thrash metal band’s most recognizable recordings.

Mäntysaari continues his journey with Megadeth

Born in Tampere, Mäntysaari joined Megadeth in September 2023, initially stepping in for guitarist Kiko Loureiro before becoming a permanent member of the lineup.

He made his live debut with the band on September 6, 2023, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Before joining Megadeth, the Finnish guitarist was best known for his work with Wintersun, which he joined in 2004, and Smackbound, with whom he has played since 2015.

Mäntysaari also contributed to Megadeth’s self-titled studio album, released in January 2026 through Dave Mustaine’s Tradecraft imprint in partnership with BLKIIBLK.

The record marked his first studio appearance with the legendary American thrash metal group.

In previous interviews, Mäntysaari has spoken about his wide-ranging musical influences, which include Iron Maiden, Dio, blues guitarists and jazz fusion players.

His appearance on Elämäni Biisi brought that international metal career back to his hometown, with a performance of one of Megadeth’s most enduring songs on Finnish national television.
