Megadeth release official Grammy Museum Q&A video

Author Staff - 24.10.2026

Megadeth‘s conversation with presenter Matt Pinfield at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles is now available to watch in an official video. The discussion was recorded on September 24, 2026, during an event at the venue’s Ray Charles Rooftop Terrace, and the video was highlighted on October 24.

The full lineup — Dave Mustaine, James LoMenzo, Dirk Verbeuren and Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari — took part in the conversation, which covered the group’s self-titled seventeenth studio album, songwriting and its history.

Mäntysaari explained that the band wanted a guitar-led, organic sound rather than a heavily processed production. He also described an unusual part of the preparation: he and Mustaine revisited more than 200 Megadeth songs, discussing the stories and arrangements behind them while recording observations in a spreadsheet.

According to Mäntysaari, that exercise helped the musicians identify elements they wanted to carry into the new album, even though the spreadsheet itself was not used as a final songwriting checklist.

Verbeuren said the musicians had already recorded much of the material before learning the album would be Megadeth’s last. The discussion also touches on the response from younger concertgoers and the band’s experiences with Iron Maiden.

Watch the official Q&A below. This is the conversation video, distinct from previously circulated footage of the group’s rooftop performance.
