Olzon initially joined Alyson Avenue as a studio vocalist, subsequently assuming the role of the primary female singer, thereby replacing the male vocalist. The band garnered significant attention following the distribution of a demo in 1999, which facilitated their engagement with various record labels.

Niclas Olsson, the principal composer and keyboardist, assembled the band to record a four-track demo, culminating in a record contract with AOR Heaven. In November 2000, the ensemble released their debut album, “Presence of Mind,” which received favorable critiques. The subsequent album, “Omega,” was launched in 2004. However, Olzon departed from Alyson Avenue in 2006.

In May 2009, the band welcomed Arabella Vitanc as their new lead vocalist. In 2018, Alyson Avenue reformed and performed at Melodicrockfest Scandinavia in Malmö in early June.

In early 2007, Olzon was officially appointed as the new lead vocalist of Nightwish, selected from approximately 2,000 candidates, of which ten advanced to demonstrate their capabilities before the band. Her demo tape featured the 2002 single “Ever Dream.”

She succeeded the former lead singer, Tarja Turunen, who was dismissed through an open letter in the autumn of 2005. Although Olzon‘s demo was among the initial submissions received by Nightwish, she was initially declined the position due to concerns from band leader Tuomas Holopainen regarding her responsibilities as a mother to a young son.

Despite this setback, Olzon exhibited determination by providing the band with a live DVD showcasing her performance with Alyson Avenue. Subsequently, she was approached by Ewo Pohjola, the manager of Nightwish. This interaction ultimately resulted in her assumption of the role in February 2007.
