The initial response to the Osbourne family’s intention to digitally resurrect the late heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne as an AI-powered digital avatar later this year has been remarkably divided, based on the current discourse, as per theprp. The family authorised Hyperreal, a company with experience in the digital avatar concert business, to license his likeness. Later this summer, life-size digital versions of Ozzy are anticipated to start appearing thanks to Proto Luma’s holoportation technology. To reproduce the cherished heavy metal pioneer in digital form, the firms have combined so-called “digital DNA.”

Jack Osbourne addressed the issue in a livestreamed video published yesterday, May 23, after undoubtedly observing the conflicting response to their plans. Osbourne did answer a fan’s question on if his family anticipates a “mixed reaction” to their late patriarch’s avatar incarnation, even though the webcast was mostly a fan Q&A and chat. This was Osbourne’s response.

Here’s the thing: it’s gonna be so tasteful what we’re doing. It’s not gonna be fucking lame… And it’s really complex what we’re doing. It’s not like you can sit there and like… It’s really complex what we’re doing. This isn’t just like hooking up an image of my dad to ChatGPT. This is going to be… Yeah. This is some high-level technology that we’re gonna be working with, and it’s gonna feel very real, and it’s kind of wild how it will be utilized.

But it’s awesome. It’s really cool, and it’s something that I think my dad would be into. ‘Cause we actually talked about it before he passed, about doing something like this. So, yeah, I know he would be into this.

Starting in late summer, Digital Ozzy will be available in Proto Luma units in the United Kingdom and the United States. These units are described as life-size, patented holoportation devices that can display live or pre-recorded content with its 86-inch multi-touch volumetric display, 4K resolution, high fidelity speakers, and spatial computing/conversational A.I. capabilities. The first holographic and artificial intelligence spatial computing platform, Proto is used worldwide in a variety of industries, including retail, healthcare, education, entertainment, and finance. The only patented end-to-end method for capturing and executing a verified avatar across motion, voice, likeness, and performance character is Hyperreal’s Digital DNA technology.
