The 30th anniversary of a significant heavy metal release fell on October 11. That day in 1994 marked the release of Korn‘s self-titled album to the general public. That record, which served as the unavoidable model for the genre that would eventually be called nu metal, sparked a cultural movement and a subsequent band scene. That masterpiece, led by producer Ross Robinson’s distinctively unpolished production approach, would sell two million copies in the US alone by 1999 and inspire a new generation of bands that are still in demand today. Although it may be said that no one was ever able to fully express the genuine emotion present upon it, it was also being mimicked. Last weekend, the Bakersfield, California-based group celebrated their 30th anniversary live, marking that milestone. Jonathan Davis, the group’s singer, has now shared his personal opinion on the album on social media.
