The Finnish goth rock group HIM ended their career in 2017 after a farewell tour, but it seems that at least one of their dark hearts is growing closer to them now, as per theprp. Ville Valo, the frontman, recently told Metal Hammer that he would “love to play with the lads again someday,” despite having started a sort of solo career. However, people who are looking for a great chance to flaunt their fading heartagram tattoos shouldn’t get too excited just yet. Valo warned that since they broke up, he hasn’t “really been in touch” with his former bandmates.
But I miss those fellows. They are my brothers. But there’s also beauty in the fact we didn’t strangle each other at the end, or start travelling in separate limos. So there is that to be said. I felt it was the right way to bury the corpse. HIM was and is my life. It was very hard to let go of that.
About the end of the band, this is what Valo stated.
The bittersweet thing about it was that we were still good friends, we’d just grown apart. In regards to the farewell tour, it was nice to play when we had a finite date that it was going to end. By setting the end date first, you don’t have to have reserves. Every night felt like it was our last in a way.
The Finnish rock group HIM (often stylized as H.I.M.) was based in Helsinki. Vocalist Ville Valo and bassist Mikko “Mige” Paananen founded the band in 1991, but it disbanded after just a few years. In 1995, Valo and guitarist Mikko “Linde” Lindström reunited. The band, now known as HIM, published its debut album “Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666” in 1997 when Mige, keyboardist Antto Melasniemi, and drummer Juhana “Pěkä” Rantala joined. With pianist Juska Salminen and drummer Mika “Gas Lipstick” Karppinen, the group produced “Razorblade Romance” in 2000, which peaked at number one in Finland, Austria, and Germany. In Finland and Germany, the debut song “Join Me in Death” also peaked at number one on the charts.
