It hasn’t exactly been a secret that Korn and their original drummer, David Silveria, are at opposite ends. Silveria served with the team from 1993 until 2006, when a back ailment forced him to resign. Since then, the animosity between the two sides has frequently surfaced in the media, with Silveria publicly criticizing the band’s members and their music. He claimed to have expressed regret to them for his “immature” remarks in 2019. After Silveria unsuccessfully tried to reclaim his place in the band in 2013, he sued Korn over a royalties issue, which caused tensions between the former members to significantly worsen in 2015. Korn retaliated, and the court proceedings resulted in a settlement. The band sued Silveria in early 2019 over another royalty dispute, claiming that Silveria had contested his portion of the group’s profits. However, the legal fights did not stop there. Korn asserted that Silveria had broken their previous agreement with him by acting in this manner. The band was then countersued by Silveria. In November 2019, a settlement was reached for those lawsuits as well. Despite their well-known disagreements, Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch acknowledged in 2021 that he “missed” Silveria despite the legal issues in the years before. Due to his prior struggles with drug addiction, Welch had also taken a break from the band. In light of these events, it was a little unexpected that frontman Jonathan Davis of the band specifically brought up Silveria in his latest social media post on October 11th, which reflected on the 30th anniversary of Korn‘s self-titled first album. You can read about it here. Yesterday, Silveria himself took some time to express his feelings about the anniversary.
