Hard-rock veterans Extreme have announced their first new studio album in 15 years, titled “Six”. The band’s sixth LP features a raw rocker track called “Rise” as the first single. You can watch the official video below.

The Boston-born group — featuring Gary Cherone (vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitar), Pat Badger (bass), and Kevin Figueiredo (drums) — will release “Six” on June 9th through earMUSIC.

Musically, it’s aggressive,” frontman Gary Cherone stated of “Rise.” “Lyrically, it’s a cautionary tale on the rise and fall of fame. You get seduced into it. Once you’re on top, they’ll rip you apart and tear you down. That’s the nature of the beast.

When Eddie Van Halen passed, it really hit me,” Bettencourt added. “I’m not going to be the one who will take the throne, but I felt some responsibility to keep guitar playing alive. So, you hear a lot of fire on the record.

Last month, Bettencourt played at the Super Bowl Halftime Show with Rihanna. He has served as the pop star’s lead guitarist for several of her world tours.
