In her former homeland of Düsseldorf, German metal queen Doro Pesch was presented with a lifetime achievement award on March 31. The frontman of the iconic rock group Scorpions, Klaus Meine, gave the vocalist the prize in a lavish, ceremonial ceremony. Pesch’s innovative career, which started in the 1980s with her band WARLOCK, is honored with this prize. She made a name for herself in the global music industry as one of the first females to enter the male-dominated heavy metal field. The Düsseldorf native is one of the most successful female rock performers of all time, having sold over ten million albums and performed at over 3,500 shows in 60 countries. Doro performed as special guest for Scorpions at last year’s Wacken Open Air, where she duetted with Meine on “Big City Nights“.

I am overjoyed and deeply moved. It is a tremendous honor to receive this lifetime achievement award from my hometown of Düsseldorf. A very special thanks also goes to Klaus Meine of Scorpions for his touching tribute and his wonderful friendship. This evening will always hold a very special place in my heart.
