In an entertaining new video, Devin Townsend talks about some of his hairstyles over the years in order to promote his upcoming book Overexposed + underdeveloped:. As a follow-up and companion to 2017’s Only Half There, Devin‘s new book, which will be released by Rocket 88 Books on October 17, is a compilation of his professional and personal photos from his early years in Canada, his adolescence spent in various bedrooms, his professional career, and his post-parenthood years. It also highlights the many faces and hairstyles he’s worn over the years. The book includes early family photos as well as Townsend‘s brief modelling career, his time with Steve Vai (including the now-famous Letterman “Green Room” photos), live performance photos from every band he has been in, and his time travelling and working in the studio with various puppets and artists like Strapping Young Lad, Metallica‘s Jason Newsted, and the Devin Townsend Project. Overexposed + Underdeveloped: will be offered in two editions: the Signature, which is Devin‘s signed copy of the book in a slipcase with a Dev artwork print made specifically for it, and the Classic, which is a 224-page full-color hardback.
One of the things I really noticed was how awful my hairstyles have been over the years. Now I’m like this, a bald guy, but prior to surrendering to the fact that maybe that’s the only appropriate hairstyle for me at this point I went through a number of them.
