Angine De Poitrine play a free concert in Canada – but some fans have been hospitalized

This past Saturday, June 27, at the crowded free concert by Angine de Poitrine at Place des Festivals in Montreal, Quebec, six attendees were transported to the hospital in critical condition, as per theprp. Thirty minutes before the show began, the crowd for the polka-dot-adorned psych rock combo reached capacity for the annual “Montreal International Jazz Festival.” The Montreal Gazette said that no lives were in danger and that the aforementioned injuries were not the result of a single incident. Additionally, the kinds of injuries were not revealed. According to festival director Maurin Auxéméry, the attendance for Angine de Poitrine‘s performance was the highest since the festival’s 200,000-person Stevie Wonder show in 2009.

After a KEXP in-studio performance, Angine de Poitrine‘s distinctive microtonal take on progressive psych rock went viral, causing their fame to soar online earlier this year.
