With their most recent merchandise, Viscera Crown is continuing to be provocative, as per theprp. The nasty death metal trio, which was formed in 2025 and includes Ryan Giordano of Internal Bleeding and Brandon Watkins of Year of the Knife, has publicly attacked “weak riff” bands. In order to promote the release of their own first EP, “Extreme Groove Brutality,” Viscera Crown said on social media this past March that southern metalcore band Gideon “sucks dick.”
Kublai Khan TX, a well-known metalcore band, is their most recent target. A mockup of a shirt that reads, “We Kill Kublai Khan Fans,” was recently released by Viscera Crown. Although Kublai Khan TX has remained contentious in recent years for a number of reasons, lead frontman Matt Honeycutt’s purported association with controversial character Johnny Tsunami has been the main source of criticism. An episode of the Hardcore Dropout channel provides an overview of the drama around that apparent association, even though Honeycutt has apparently never made a public statement on the subject.
But according to comments in Viscera Crown‘s recent social media post revealing this shirt today, May 30, the group claimed that Kublai Khan TX, was the target of their “trash music.” That position was articulated in a number of fan interactions in the Viscera Crown post below. Although the shirt is not yet available, Viscera Crown mentioned in another comment on the post below that it will be available for purchase in a few weeks.
