The now-defunct platinum goth metal band Type O Negative is working on a new live record. Kenny Hickey, the band’s former guitarist, claims that a previous live performance is currently being prepared for a potential release. Hickey made this offer in an interview with Loaded Radio, as reported by theprp.

We’re actually working on a live album right now. Yeah, we’re in the mixing process… So I’m excited about that. [We’re] working on the artwork now.

Following the death of their singer/bassist Peter Steele, Type O Negative was buried back in 2010. Although there have been persistent rumors about the band reuniting for a live celebration of their work, the likelihood of this happening remains slim because of Josh Silver, the band’s former keyboardist and singer, continuing to show little commitment. But if those circumstances ever materialize, a suitable live substitute for Steele has volunteered.

Fifteen years after frontman Peter Steele’s death, Type O Negative‘s legacy is still growing, and fans have long wondered if a tribute concert or even a brief series of gigs may happen. this makes sense considering how incredibly nostalgic the group is right now. Hickey said that there had been talks regarding a possible Steele tribute that would include the other members of Type O Negative in a recent interview with Scott Penfold of Loaded Radio, as reported by MetalInjection.

There has, yes. A lot of people are approaching us. There are a lot of agents [contacting us]. There’s money in it, so the more the value goes up, the more they’re gonna hound us. Josh is really, at this point, he’s very resistant. But we’ll see. We don’t know what’s gonna happen. Josh is about to retire soon, so we don’t know what’s gonna happen. It all depends on how much money it’s worth and how much is waved [in front of us].
