Forbes reports that Warner Music Group has purchased Twisted Sister’s remaining trademarks, recording copyrights, and other name, image, and likeness rights. The agreement’s conditions have not been made public. The agreement between Twisted Sister and Warner Music Group was reached almost ten years after vocalist Dee Snider sold Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) his Snidest Music music publishing portfolio, which included 69 songs, including the band’s iconic rock hits “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock.” Many national advertisements, movies, television shows, and the Broadway musical “Rock of Ages” have used the songs in their repertoire. The show had a three-year run at the Venetian and a one-year run at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas until January 2017.
The decision to sell the rights in September 2024 was driven by several factors, including the aging of the bandmembers and the fact that none of their kids wanted to continue in the Twisted Sister business. Jay Jay French to Forbes
