Tuska Festival announces next batch of bands: Kreator and Carcass added to next year’s edition

Author Arto Mäenpää - 26.11.2021

Along with the legendary duo of Carcass and Kreator, new additions to the Tuska 2022 festival line up include Stratovarius, Northern Kings, Soilwork, Joe Lynn Turner, Gloryhammer, The Dark Element, The Birthday Massacre, The Night Flight Orchestra, Omnium Gatherum, Bloodred Hourglass and 1914. Tuska will take place at Suvilahti, Helsinki, Finland on July 1–3, 2022.

Founded in 1986, Carcass has laid the foundations of extreme metal more than many others, who are labeled as ”legends”, combined. Carcass begun their career with gore grind but their sophomore release, ”Symphonies of Sickness”, already saw the band venture deep into death metal territory. Carcass comes from punk roots and they have always stood for things important to them. Animal rights and vegeterianism are deeply rooted in their agenda.

The cornerstone of teutonic thrash metal, Kreator, has soon played together for four decades and they will be back at Tuska to show everyone how it’s done. Kreator has the backing of 14 amazing studio albums and their latest masterpiece, ”Gods Of Violence”, is a nearly perfect package of piston presicion thrash riffage.

Other freshly added artists for Tuska 2022 include melodic metal gem Stratovarius, star-studded cover group Northern Kings, Gothenburg-sound pioneer Soilwork, the amazing Joe Lynn Turner performing a full set of Rainbow and Deep Purple hits, melodic metal greatness of Glory Hammer and The Dark Element, synth goths of The Birthday Massacre, AOR inspired The Night Flight Orchestra, big guns of Finnish melodic death metal Omnium Gatherum and Bloodred Hourglass and Ukranian death metal machine 1914.

”The festival program for the upcoming summer has now been put together three times over the past years and I truly believe that this is the ultimate version. I am super proud of the program and from the bottom of my heart I wish that the audience finds their way to Tuska to enjoy this and that the conditions stay favorable. Program-wise, the three big stages are now complete and the concept and program for the fourth, smaller scaled stage, will be announced during the spring.”
