Nine Inch Nails members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed the soundtrack for director David Fincher’s upcoming film “The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth”, continuing their long-running creative partnership.
The film, written by Quentin Tarantino, serves as a follow-up to his 2019 movie “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood”. Brad Pitt returns as Cliff Booth, the stuntman character who earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
“The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth” will receive an exclusive two-week IMAX theatrical run beginning November 25, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on December 23.
The involvement of Reznor and Ross was confirmed through the film’s promotional materials, marking their sixth feature-film collaboration with Fincher.
Reznor and Ross first worked with Fincher on the soundtrack for “The Social Network” in 2010. Their atmospheric electronic compositions earned the pair an Academy Award for Best Original Score and helped establish them as major figures in contemporary film music.
The musicians subsequently composed scores for several other Fincher films, including “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” (2011), “Gone Girl” (2014), “Mank” (2020) and “The Killer” (2023).
Their work on “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” also earned them a Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.
The partnership has become an important part of Fincher’s cinematic style, with the duo’s distinctive combination of electronic textures, industrial sounds and minimalist arrangements complementing the director’s often unsettling visual storytelling.
Their latest collaboration takes them into the world of 1970s Hollywood, although further details about the film’s score have not yet been revealed.
Set in 1977, eight years after the events of “Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood”, the new film follows Cliff Booth as he navigates another chapter of his life in Los Angeles. While Tarantino wrote the screenplay, Fincher has taken over directing duties for the follow-up.
Alongside Pitt, the cast includes Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino and Timothy Olyphant. The project reunites several major creative figures from contemporary cinema while bringing Reznor and Ross back into Fincher’s filmmaking process.
Outside their work with Fincher, Reznor and Ross have built an extensive catalogue of film and television scores. Their credits include “Soul”, “Challengers”, “Queer” and “TRON: Ares”, demonstrating a musical range extending far beyond the industrial rock sound associated with Nine Inch Nails.
The pair have also remained active in their primary band, with Nine Inch Nails returning to live performances and continuing to explore new creative projects. Their involvement in “The Further Mis-Adventures Of Cliff Booth” adds another high-profile soundtrack to their filmography.
