Tom Morello, the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, will release a new song called “Date Night” on Tuesday, July 28, as per theprp. The song was inspired by Freddie Oversteegen, Truus Oversteegen, and Hannie Schaft, three teenage girls who used seduction to entice German officers and Nazis to their deaths during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands during World War II. A teaser clip for that song can be found below. In order to frustrate the occupying force, the three of them also used more conventional forms of sabotage, such as blowing up bridges. Tom Morello is a political activist, singer, composer, and guitarist from the United States. He is well-known for his time spent with the rock groups Audioslave and Rage Against the Machine. Morello participated in the supergroup Prophets of Rage from 2016 to 2019. In addition, Morello occasionally travels with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Morello published his solo work under the name the Nightwatchman. He founded the Street Sweeper Social Club with Boots Riley. Axis of Justice, a monthly program on Pacifica Radio station KPFK (90.7 FM) in Los Angeles, was co-founded by Morello.
Raised in Libertyville, Illinois, and born in Harlem, New York City, Morello developed an interest in politics and music throughout his high school years. He studied at Harvard University and graduated from the Committee on Degrees in Social Studies with a Bachelor of Arts. Morello met Zack de la Rocha following the breakup of his former band, Lock Up. One of the most well-known and significant bands of the 1990s, Rage Against the Machine, was created by them. His inventive guitar playing style, which includes a lot of guitar effects, unusual picking and tapping, and feedback noise, is what made him most famous. While performing apolitical music with Audioslave, Morello is also well-known for his socialist political beliefs and activism, which he expressed through the solo project The Nightwatchman.
