“There’s a connection between my own story and this trilogy” – Interview with Edu Falaschi about his new album “Mi’raj” and Angra reunion shows

Brazilian vocalist, composer, and producer Edu Falaschi is known worldwide as the voice of classic albums by the prog/power metal band Angra, where he was the group’s vocalist for over a decade. Since 2017, the musician has taken a turn in his career, pausing activities with his then-band, Almah, and dedicating himself to his solo career.

Being a talented composer, it was only a matter of time before Edu began working on new songs, so a few years ago, he announced a trilogy of albums that tells a fictional story of a couple in love, intertwined with historical events. The first two albums of this endeavor, Vera Cruz (2021) and Eldorado (2023), were well-received by fans and press, and now with Mi’raj, out worldwide on August 26th, Falaschi concludes the final chapter of an interesting story that mixed cultural elements from Brazil, Mexico and Middle East.

This new album also features special guests such as Roy Khan of Conception, also former Kamelot, Veronica Bordacchini from Flesgod Apocalypse, and former Angra bandmate Rafael Bittencourt. Besides the promotion of the new record and an upcoming solo tour, in April the vocalist reunited with the classic Angra “Nova Era” lineup for two special shows in Brazil, which was a very emotional moment for Edu.

In an exclusive interview, Chaoszine spoke with Falaschi over a video call to talk about this last chapter of this trilogy, his feelings on the reunion with Angra, and his friendship with vocalist Roy Khan. Check it out!
