The power metal scene is very popular worldwide, and Angra has been one of the biggest names in the genre. Over the past 35 years, the Brazilian group has released classic albums such as Holy Land, Temple of Shadows, and Cycles of Pain, and most impressively, it has featured different vocalists across three distinct decades, from the late maestro Andre Matos, through the charismatic Edu Falaschi, to the legendary Fabio Lione, but always maintaining its essence.
In November 2025, the band announced the departure of Fabio Lione, after 13 years since the Italian singer joined the group. It was obvious that the new voice would be Alirio Netto, not only a dear friend of the band members, but also because he had almost taken the position when Edu Falaschi left Angra in 2012.
Alirio is not only a vocalist, but also an actor and a voice teacher for almost his entire life. He has sang, recorded and performed live in bands such as Khallice, Age of Artemis, and Shaman, besides having an active solo career, but it was in theaters that he showed a new side of his skills, acting in classic plays such as Jesus Christ Superstar and We Will Rock You. In 2018 he became the lead vocalist for Queen Extravaganza, in which he was handpicked by Queen’s drummer Roger Taylor and guitarist Brian May.
In an exclusive interview, Chaoszine spoke with Alirio over a video call to talk about this new chapter of his life with Angra, his feelings and challenges in keeping the legacy of the three previous singers, and his plans for a future solo album. Check it out!
