The Troops of Doom release a star-studded cover of “God Of Thunder” by KISS

Author Benedetta Baldin - 22.3.2026

The Brazilian death/thrash metal band The Troops of Doom, which was founded six years ago and features former Sepultura guitarist Jairo “Tormentor” Guedz, has immortalized its own studio version of the iconic KISS song “God Of Thunder” by assembling well-known guest musicians from various genres, including Chuck Billy (Testament), Andria Busic (Dr. Sin, Ultraje A Rigor), PJ (Jota Quest), and Martin Furia (Destruction, Bark), as per Blabbermouth.

Since The Troops of Doom was formed back in 2020, we’ve used ‘God Of Thunder’ as a pre-intro in our shows. Whenever the audience hears this song playing through the P.A., they already know the band is about to hit the stage. It’s almost a ritual for us. We all grew up listening to KISS, so this track has always held a special meaning. – Jairo Guedz

Alexandre Oliveira plays percussion, Marcelo Vasco and Jairo Guedz play guitars, while Alex Kafer sings on the track. Additionally, this is the last time guitarist Marcelo Vasco will work with the group. He recently announced his retirement and will play his farewell gig on May 1 at CDM Metal Fest in Campo do Meio/MG.
