The guitar played by Dave Grohl, lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band Foo Fighters, will soon be available for auction. The White Falcon guitar in question, made by Gretsch, was featured in the music video for the band’s “Monkey Wrench”, and Grohl played it on the 1997 album “The Colour and the Shape” on which the song appears.

The guitar will be up for auction at the Gardiner Houlgate auction on 7th of September. The guitar is expected to sell for £30 000.

“This a very exciting guitar as it’s one of the few owned by Foo Fighters, arguably the biggest current rock band on earth, ever to come to public auction. ‘Monkey Wrench’ was the band’s breakthrough single and also the first to feature drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died tragically this March. I’m expecting interest from around the world. The fact that it features so prominently in the band’s iconic Monkey Wrench video makes it all the more attractive to collectors and fans”, auctioneer Luke Hobbs comments.
