Slipknot talked about their plans on new music, a new album and also on vocalist Corey Taylor’s last months dealing with his mental health in a new interview with the American entertainment magazine Alternative Press.

Corey Taylor had to cancel his solo North American tour this year because of suffering from mental health issues. The singer was always open about his troublesome past and trauma, being sexually assaulted as a child, his battle with addiction and a suicide attempt. In this new interview he said:

“A lot of people hit me up saying it helped them get themselves back into therapy, or to try therapy for the first time. wish I had a better happy ending to that video than I did. I didn’t end up addressing those things until this year. A lot of my issues come from being convinced that I’m right, even when I’m wrong.”

Alternative Press also interviewed Slipknot‘s other bandmembers, which all revealed some very interesting news about the band’s next plans regarding new music. Slipknot‘s last album “The End, So Far” reaches back the year 2022 and was still in collaboration with Roadrunner Records. This collaboration ended after the band’s last album leaving the band on their own from then on. Asked what the band has planned for their new album and if they would do it all by their own now, Slipknot‘s percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan responded:

“I won’t sign a seven-album deal. But could we do one-offs or two? I don’t know. Am I interested in doing it ourselves? Well, that’s a lot of fuckin’ work. Could we do it? Yeah. Could it be beneficial for the band? Of course. Is it going to be 10 times more work? Absolutely.”

“Clown” also added some information on when a new Slipknot album could come out:

“Somewhere between 2025 and mid-2026, there’s gonna be writing. I think it’s gonna be sooner than later. Maybe we’ll be in the studio in the later part of 2025. There’s no expectations. No one’s in a rush, but we’re not going to blow it off, either.”

Slipknot changed his formation this year as drummer Eloy Casagrande and a new, still hidden, sampler/keyboardist joined this legendary band. On this vocalist Corey Taylor had to say:

“Eloy is such a natural writer. I think he’s going to take us to some places we haven’t been in a while. I’ve got a lot to say, and I’m looking forward to expounding on a lot of different things.”
